MATT DAVIS

A BUILDER OF COMMUNITY
AND CONNECTION

FOR ANKENY CITY COUNCIL

MEET MATT DAVIS
For 18 years, Matt has called Ankeny home—a place where he’s raised his family, built a career, and grown deep roots. Born in Sioux City and educated at Iowa State University with both a Business Management degree and MBA, Matt blends small-town values with the expertise to get things done.
With nearly two decades in the construction industry and a key leadership role at a local business, Matt knows what it takes to plan smart, work hard, and build with purpose. His hands-on experience means he doesn’t just talk about growth—he’s lived it, and helped shape it.
As a husband, father of three, and proud dog owner, Matt understands the daily rhythms of family life in Ankeny. He’s committed to making our neighborhoods safe, our businesses strong, and our community even more connected.
Matt’s not running just to serve—he’s running to keep building a future we can all be proud of.
Let’s build Ankeny’s next chapter—together.

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR ANKENY CITY COUNCIL
I’m running for City Council because I believe in building a future where Ankeny continues to thrive — not just for today, but for generations to come. This city is more than where I live — it’s where I’ve raised my children, grown in my career, and devoted countless hours to strengthening our community from the inside out.
LEADERSHIP ROOTED IN EXPERIENCE
With a career spanning nearly two decades in strategic planning and construction management at Neumann Brothers, I’ve learned how to drive policy, improve efficiency, and manage multimillion-dollar projects — all while keeping people and purpose at the center of everything I do.
In my role as a Senior Project Manager and Team Leader, I’ve brought teams together to solve complex problems and enhance the way we build, operate, and serve. These leadership skills transfer directly to municipal service, making thoughtful decisions, listening to diverse perspectives, and building consensus to move the city forward.
A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY GROWTH
My volunteer work reflects a deep commitment to public service and civic improvement. Serving on advisory committees like the Iowa Capitol Planning Commission and the Greater Des Moines Partnership's Talent Council, I’ve tackled everything from workforce development to long-range city planning.
I’ve worked side-by-side with nonprofits like Variety – The Children’s Charity, helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and champion inclusive youth programming. My work with Ankeny Community Champions helped connect local underserved families with resources and opportunities.
Every committee seat, board position, and coaching role has strengthened my belief: lasting progress comes when we show up, work together, and lead with heart.
As a Council member, I’ll focus on smart infrastructure, inclusive growth, and policies that reflect the values of our residents. I will always strive to ensure Ankeny is a place where families, businesses, and individuals can thrive.
This community gave me roots and a reason to give back. Now I’m ready to serve at the next level — not just as a neighbor or volunteer, but as a dedicated voice for progress on the City Council.
KEY INITIATIVES
Change is a vital part of growth, but meaningful change begins with understanding. Before rushing to alter existing processes or systems, it's essential to ask why they exist in the first place and how they serve our community. When we take the time to listen, learn, and reflect, we can make informed improvements that honor both the history and future of Ankeny.
In the section, I share a few initiatives I’m eager to understand more deeply and thoughtfully enhance if given the opportunity to serve on City Council. Together, we can shape progress that’s both ambitious and grounded.

STRATEGIC INFASTRUCTURE
PLANNING
-
Working with the Council to ensure future upgrades and phased development of roads, public transportation, and utilities are strategic for the future.

I would leverage my construction and project management background to guide responsible infrastructure expansion with the least invasive approach to the citizens.
